KERRY DOYLAND
I qualified as an architectural designer in the 1980’s and started my own design company.
I won British Designer of the Year, and was awarded Freedom of the City of London for my work in this field.
In 2000 I became ill, and retired from my company to teach yoga and to paint and draw for pleasure.
I’m still passionate about proportion, line and colour and it is this that brings me such a sense of joy and presents a constant challenge in my artwork. I enjoy especially, painting from life rather than from a photograph, as I love the frisson that comes with a time limit. This really surprises me as I’m not in any other way, an adrenaline junky...quite the reverse, I like everything else in my life to be calm and relaxed!
